Bank of Baroda Q2 profit jumps 36% to Rs 6,532 crore, helped by NSE stake sale
Bank of Baroda's standalone Q2FY27 profit rose 35.8% on gains from selling NSE shares; net interest income grew 9% and bad loans fell.
State-run Bank of Baroda reported a 35.8% year-on-year jump in standalone net profit to Rs 6,532 crore for the September quarter of FY27.
A one-off gain from selling part of its stake in the National Stock Exchange (NSE) gave the bottom line a significant lift, alongside higher interest income. Net interest income (NII), the gap between what the bank earns on loans and pays on deposits, grew 9% to Rs 13,026 crore.
Asset quality also improved. The gross non-performing assets (NPA) ratio fell to 1.78%. The bank’s global advances and deposits both grew at double-digit rates during the quarter.
Pointing to strong demand for loans, the lender raised its full-year guidance for credit and deposit growth.
Because part of this quarter’s profit came from the NSE stake sale, the core earnings trend is better reflected in NII growth of 9% than in the headline profit jump.
