Aluminium drives the growth

NALCO reports two segments, aluminium and chemicals. Chemicals is mainly alumina, the raw material that is smelted into aluminium.

  • Chemicals: revenue fell 8% to Rs 1,693 crore, and the segment result fell 55% to Rs 282 crore.

So the quarter’s growth came almost entirely from aluminium. The filing does not give sales volumes or realised prices, so it does not show how much of the gain came from price and how much from volume.
