Ambuja Cements plans about 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of new cement capacity, with total growth capital expenditure of around Rs 14,500 crore. The company announced the Ambuja Cements capacity expansion in a media release filed with the exchanges on 2 November 2026. The programme would take total capacity to 155 MTPA by FY30, from its current 113.5 MTPA.

Ambuja Cements capacity expansion: where the new plants go

The release lists new grinding units and clinker capacity across three regions:

  • East: grinding capacity of about 11.6 MTPA at Rangia and Hojai in Assam, Godda in Jharkhand and Muzaffarpur in Bihar.
  • West: grinding capacity of about 15.5 MTPA at Mundra and Hazira in Gujarat, and Raigad, Kalyan, Dahanu and Amravati in Maharashtra.
  • North: about 2.9 MTPA of grinding capacity at Dadri Line 2 in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Clinker, the intermediate material that is ground into cement: 4 MTPA at Umrangso in Assam, 4 MTPA at Maratha and 2.3 MTPA at Mundra.

The company says the grinding units are placed closer to high-growth markets, which it expects to reduce logistics costs.

Capacity timeline: 113.5 MTPA now

Ambuja added 4.6 MTPA in the first half of financial year 2026-27, through the Dahej brownfield expansion, the Salai Banwa grinding unit in Uttar Pradesh and the Kalamboli brownfield expansion. The release says another 5.6 MTPA is expected in the second half of FY27, which would take total capacity to 119 MTPA by March 2027. The longer expansion then lifts capacity to 155 MTPA by FY30.

Cost target and management view

Vinod Bahety, CEO of the company’s cement business, said the next phase of expansion is focused on quality of growth and a more balanced manufacturing network. He said the company wants to link clinker and grinding capacity more closely so that it can serve its key markets with more flexibility. He said the expansion will also help the company move towards a cost of Rs 4,000 per metric tonne (PMT) by FY28.

Context: part of the Adani group

Ambuja Cements is part of the Adani Portfolio. The release says the expansion builds on capacity already under execution. For more company news, see the results news page.
