Bata India Q2 results: key numbers
| Measure (Rs crore) | Q2 FY27 | Q2 FY26 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 862 | 801 | over 7.5% |
| Profit after tax | 18 | 14 | over 31% |

Why profit rose
Bata attributed the profit growth to a higher average selling price (ASP), as customers bought more premium products. Managing Director and CEO Sanjay S. Rao, who took charge on 1 October 2026, said same-store growth was strong and franchise and institutional channels grew in double digits. Gross margin improved marginally, he said, and net stock was 7% lower than a year earlier.
One-off items
Profit includes a non-cash forex loss of Rs 3 crore on licence fees and a one-time asset write-off of Rs 3.9 crore. Other income was Rs 4.6 crore lower after the company distributed surplus funds of Rs 321 crore as a special dividend during the quarter.
What to watch next
Bata has over 2,000 stores including franchise and said it expects growth momentum to continue as festive business falls in Q3. In our view, the next quarter will show whether sales growth holds once festive demand arrives. See more results news.
